Net Zero Carbon Program

NET ZERO CARBON PROGRAM

On October 31, 2023, PT Otsuka Indonesia together with a number of drug and food industries who are members of the IPMG organization participated in the BPOM CSR program which has carried out a series of environmental sustainability initiative programs.

This time the activity carried out was mangrove planting which is concrete evidence of supporting the reduction of carbon emissions in DKI Jakarta. As a first step, BPOM together with other Stake Holders began symbolic planting for the 2023 target of 16 thousand trees in (Taman Wisata Alam Mangrove Angke Kapuk) TWAAK and PIK Mangrove Ecotourism which will be able to absorb greenhouse gases (GHG) of 345.3 tonnes of CO2 equivalent (CO2e) per year. Gradually over the next 5 years, BPOM targets planting 47.8 thousand mangrove trees. Planting on an area of 5 hectares is estimated to contribute to increasing absorption by 1,398 tonnes of CO2e per year. Then continue with planting a minimum of 30 thousand trees in 2024–2025 which will also be able to absorb 750 tonnes of CO2e per year.
