The purpose of this second phase hydroponic training is to continue the previous similar program in 2016 that provided community with knowledge and skill in planting vegetables by hydroponic methods in their houses. Therefore, the community would consume healthier and more free of pesticide vegetables for their family which was planted on their garden at home.

This training activity was held for two days on 4th – 5th August 2017 in collaboration with Malang Hydroponic Community (HIMA). The first training day was held in the classroom explained theoretical and pratical methods of planting hydroponic. The second training day explained the method of hydroponic installation. Furthermore, the installation they have created will be provided to be used for planting in groups. Hopefully, if the community could plant it well, the healthier vegetables not only self consumption but also can be sold to increase their family income.

This activity, carried out by PT.OI, was warm welcomed by the local government, represented by Lawang Sub district and Kalirejo District. In his opening remarks, Lawang Sub district Head, Mr. Suroto conveyed his gratitude to PT.OI who has conducted the hydroponic training to the community. This activity is very useful because it provided additional value to the community by consuming the healthier vegetables for the family, moreover, they could sell and develop it massively as well. This activity also in line with and supports the government program in enhancing KRPL (Kawasan Rumah pangan Lestari/ Sustainable Food House Area). Our hope in the future, we can develop and create this Kalirejo area as the Hydroponic village.
